A caller named Mary Lou tells Father Dave that she wants to bow respectfully, but doesn't know when the correct time to bow is, since she sees people bowing at many different times during Mass. Father Dave explains that we only bow during the Eucharist prayer if we are standing during the elevation of the Eucharist, but most parishes kneel. Jim explains that he applied to seminary, but was told that men have to be ordained before they turn 50 years old. Father Dave explains that age restrictions vary depending upon the diocese, but typically occur because priests would likely retire shortly after being ordained at an older age.
